Amanda Davenport, LPC-
Most everyone experiences trauma during his or her lifetime. Trauma can include death or illness of a loved one, physical, sexual or emotional abuse, domestic violence, bullying, divorce and a host of other devastating events. If the trauma is left unresolved, it can manifest into depression, anxiety and mood dysregulation. In children and teenagers, the effects can be compounded- resulting in anger, inability to focus in school, difficulty in social relationships, defiance and depression. I see my role as a therapist as that of a partner in your healing.
I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults through the use of individual, family and couples counseling. I have extensive experience working with depression, anxiety, children/teens dealing with divorce, trauma, sexual abuse, mood disorders, and adjusting to life changes. I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.

Everyone faces challenges in life, and those can sometimes feel so huge that it seems nothing can help. My goal is to give hope to those who are hurting and feeling overwhelmed by events in their past, problems they face today, or worries about the future. I want to help my clients understand that they are the architect of their future & that they do not have to be defined by their past experiences.
I enjoy working with adolescents, and adults. My areas of practice include anxiety, depression, adjustment issues, grief, loss, and complex trauma as a result of child abuse, neglect, violence, traumatic loss, & child welfare involvement. I am trained in various trauma informed counseling modalities: Integrative Treatment for Complex Trauma, Trust Based Relational Intervention®, & Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
I believe everyone has the right to feel heard and understood; sometimes they just need help finding their voice. I strive to meet people where they are in life, in a respectful & compassionate way. I provide a safe & supportive environment which encourages processing of traumatic experiences or whatever challenges you may be facing.

Taking the first steps towards help can be scary and intimidating. Whether you are trying to recover from past trauma, feel like you are at rock bottom, or are just trying to find balance in your life, therapy can help. It is my goal to provide a safe, supportive, genuine, and empathetic environment for clients to be able to explore feelings and thoughts from their past and present. Therapy is based off of your needs and goals; you are the expert of you!
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Certified Counselor with an MS in counseling from Northeastern State University. My experience serving several different populations includes working with the Oklahoma Juvenile Justice System as well as caring for children and adolescents in both inpatient psychiatric and community settings. I enjoy working with children, teens, and adults who have experienced or struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, anger/aggression, self-esteem issues and suicidal ideation. My formal training includes eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to aid in processing individual’s past traumas and ongoing life stressors. Healing looks different for each of us and clients are actively encouraged to participate in the treatment planning process as we work together to create a unique, tailored and integrative treatment approach.
Therapeutic rapport and collaborative work between the therapist and client are vital to positive outcomes in treatment. My goal is that in our work, you will feel seen, heard, and valued. This is a safe, confidential space for you to start your journey toward healing.

As a seasoned therapist of 20 years, my experience has allowed me to work in various facets of mental health, including home-based therapy, residential care, school, inpatient and an outpatient clinic setting. I have treated all ages, from little ones to geriatric adults. For over the past decade, my treatment focus has been working with marginalized communities dealing with significant trauma and chronic health issues. I believe there is no problem that is too big or too insignificant, that therapy can’t help.
I prefer to use an eclectic approach to treating clients due to my belief that there is not one approach that will fit everyone, however; I do particularly find Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Strength Based and Mindfulness approaches most useful in my work. I also recognize the significance of the therapeutic rapport and cannot overstate the value of this relationship as a catalyst to therapeutic progress. I am very conscious of the fact that trust takes time and until that trust is established, lasting progress does not typically happen.
I also respect the client as the expert of their lives and lived experiences. True to most humans, there are times those experiences leave us feeling paralyzed, stuck and unable to function at our fullest potential. I view my role in therapy as a collaborator, here to help the client connect the dots and adjust the lens through which they see the world, to one that highlights problems as solvable, change as achievable, hope as obtainable and peace within reach.
